Learn how it’s made

The techniques we use today in making had made seed paper haven’t changed much from a century ago. It can be hard work and time consuming but at the end of the 100% rewarding.

Paper Sourcing

Post-industrial and consumer paper, including cardboard, newspapers, and office copy paper, is collected from local community centers, post offices, and white goods stores. These materials, often considered waste, are repurposed through our recycling process. Partnering with local facilities helps divert paper products from landfills, reducing environmental impact. The collected paper is sorted and cleaned before being transformed into our high-quality seed paper, supporting a circular economy and promoting resource reuse.

Infusing our seeds

The paper is broken down into paper pulp and then poured into a large water bath with the seed of the day. We then use handmade moulds and deckles to handcraft each sheet.

Once the seed paper has been pressed to remove its water content the sheets are generally dried outdoors in the natural environment to save on carbon emissions which is why most of our seed paper is made during Summer & Autumn.

Final paper product

Once dried, the seed paper is carefully removed from the felt and then pressed to smooth out any wrinkles developed during drying. This ensures a uniform, high-quality finish. The paper is then precisely cut to the required size for the next print job, whether for custom invitations, business cards, or other eco-friendly stationery. Each sheet is handled with care to maintain the embedded seeds’ viability, ensuring that your printed products not only look beautiful but also grow into vibrant plants.
